Free concert ahead of European Day of Early Music

Galway Early Music Festival concert to be hosted in St Joseph’s Church

A FREE concert, to take place next week in St Joseph’s Church, on the Presentation Road, will launch a week of pan-European celebrations ahed of the European Day of Early Music.

Col vento e’l tasto – Music of the Seicento for Winds and Keyboard, will present a selection of 16th-century Italian music, performed by Eva Legêne (recorders ), Conor Hastings (cornetto ), Stephanie Dyer (sackbut ), and Yonit Kosovske (harpsichord and chamber organ ), on Monday March 13 at 1pm. The programme will feature compositions by Johann-Hermann Schein, Dario Castello, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Tarquinio Merula, and Johann Schop.

The concert is organised by Galway Early Music, the only member of the European Early Music Network in Ireland, and the Galway City Arts Office, and produced by Vlad Smishkewych, tenor and Lyric FM presenter.
