Remembering Patrick Kavanagh in Galway

50th anniversary of poet's death to be commemorated in the city

“IF EVER you go to Dublin Town/In a hundred years or so/Inquire for me in Baggot Street/And what I was like to know” wrote the poet Patrick Kavanagh, but you do not have to go to Dublin to find out about him.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the poet's death, and Patrick Kavanagh Western Association will mark his passing with the event, O Commemorate Me In 50, at The Mick Lally Theatre, Druid Lane, on Saturday March 11 from 7.30pm.

The event will feature music, song, readings, and poetry inspired by the Monaghan man's life and work, with readings by Gerry Hanberry, Peter Duffy, and Kevin Higgins among others, along with music by violinist Íde Ní Fhaoláin.

Tickets can be pre-booked via druid.ticketsolve.com/#/shows/873570199 or the Druid box office (091 - 568660 ) or from 086 - 8736837
