Something to Sing About Choir concert

Cancer survivors choral group to perform at Salthill hotel

GALWAY'S SOMETHING To Sing About Choir will host a concert this Saturday in the Salthill Hotel, with special guests Marc Roberts, Emma Langford, Richie Byrne, and Maria and Kenny Fahy.

STSA is a global choir of cancer survivors and STSA Galway, who rehearse in the g hotel on Wednesdays - with a view to availing of a form of music therapy, where members can meet, sing, and enjoy being part of a choir - is led by musical director and local vocal coach Lisa Seary, and accompanied by Alison Slattery.

Ahead of the concert, a spokesperson for the choir said: "The idea of being in a room with like minded people who had gone through this journey was quite awe inspiring. We all understand each other. We had great help and encouragement from the get go from Dr Paul and from Seamus Leonard UCHG, our then music director. All you think about while you are there is the singing, nothing else matters at that time. As with all organisations people come and go and move on to other things but we have a core group of 16 members today, and plenty room for more."

Tickets are €15 and available in Duggan's Renmore; OMG@ Zhivago, Shop Street; and McCambridges. Funds raised will be donated to Galway Hospice, Hand in Hand, and the Comfort Fund Oncology ward UHG.
