Dott - new EP and Galway gig

Listen to stream of Dott's new EP Beverly Baldwin

DOTT, THE brilliant Irish indie-pop/garage rock band, mark two milestones at their gig in the Galway Arts Centre this weekend - the fifth anniversary of their first show and their first Galway show since returning from a year living in Toronto.

Dott - led by singer/guitarist/songwriter Anna McCarthy - play the Dominick Street venue this Saturday at 7pm. The gig also marks the Irish release of their new EP, Beverly Baldwin, which came out in August through New York label, Mirror Universe Tapee. Copies will be available at the show.

The four-track EP shows Dott expanding their sound to encompass some NEU! style, Krautrock influences, without sacrificing their trademark pop smarts and vocal harmonies. It also contains the wonderful 'Beautiful Face', which has long been an in-concert favourite.

"We've done a lot in the five years," reflects Anna, of the band's journey so far, "between playing SXSW twice, CMJ once, touring the US four times, releasing an album, two EPs, and a split record with Night School, and playing so many amazing festivals and gigs across Ireland. We've also been lucky enough to be involved with amazing labels and collectives like Graveface Records, Popical Island, Girth and Mirror Universe, and Serenity Now."

Also playing are Galway bands Field Trip (surf-rock/indie pop ), Drown (postpunk ), and Crude (indie-rock/punk ). Admission is €8. The event is over 18s only.
