THE QUAYS is hosting gigs by some of Galway and Ireland's most popular covers bands this weekend, and the venue is also running an offer of free entry to gigs on Fridays and Sundays.
Tonight a Battle of the Bands takes place, followed tomorrow by Starman. The Meath quartet, who have played across Britain and the continent, perform songs by David Bowie, The Doors, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, AC/DC, Bob Marley, Franz Ferdenand, Killers, and the Kings of Leon.
Long running and popular Galway band KIF play on Saturday, performing songs by Elbow, Ed Sheeran, Paul Weller, The Pogues, U2, Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, and Paolo Nutini. In 2008 they were invited to play for the Irish Ambassador to China in Beijing for the 2008 Olympics.
Weightless Astronauts, play on Sunday. Expect to hear songs by The Killers, The Kings of Leon, Culture Club, Journey, Black Eyed Peas, The Doobie Brothers, The Divine Comedy, and The Violent Femmes.
