Gardai probe city break-ins and damage

Gardai in the city are investigating a series of break-ins at houses and retail premises around the city over the past week.

Between 7pm on Saturday on Saturday last and 4pm on Sunday, a house was broken into at Greenfields Rd. Newcastle, Galway City. The culprits gained entry to the house through a bathroom window.

Also on Sunday at approximately 4:15am at Glassan Village, Ballybane Rd, a woman was awoken by an intruder inside her house. The intruder fled the scene when disturbed by the woman. The culprit is believed to have gained entry to the house through a bedroom window.

Between Thursday night and Friday morning last, culprits tried to gain entry to the Costcutter shop in Ballybane.

The culprits caused damage to a number of panes of glass in the side and front doors of the premises.

In the early hours of Sunday morning at approx 02:40am, a front window was broken in Mc Swiggans Bar in Woodquay, while around the same time, the front window of Roscoe’s Cafe on Eglinton Street was damaged.

Anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in these areas around the times of these crimes or who may have any information is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.
