The Minister for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources, Seán Kyne, has welcomed the allocation of €94,000 to animal welfare organisations in Galway.
The funding is part of a €2.4 million allocation by the Minister of Agriculture, Michael Creed, to 137 animal welfare organisations across the country.
Deputy Kyne said: “I warmly welcome the allocation by Minister Creed of €94,000 in funding to 12 animal welfare organisations in Galway. The organisations benefiting include Galway SPCA which has received €40,000, Madra, which has received €10,000, along with funding allocations for Galway Cat Rescue, Clifden Animal Resuce, Renvyle Cat and Dog Rescue, and Galway and Claddagh Swan Rescue, among others.
“Galway is fortunate to have such community-focused organisations who work to promote and safe-guard animal welfare. The organisations in turn benefit from energetic volunteers who help to maintain animal welfare services across our county. From taking part in events, with Madra in particular, I know first hand the excellent work these organisations undertake and I am certain that this funding will be put to great use by Galway’s animal welfare organisations in 2017.”
