Disappointing end for Galway WFC

It was not the finish Galway Women’s FC had hoped when they headed to Dublin to face UCD Waves in Jackson Park in Sunday's Continental Tyres League.

However a depleted Galway were always going to struggle against the Waves on this occasion, going down 3-0 in their final game of the season.

Galway were able to match them for most of the first half, and UCD had Barna native Dora Gorman to thank for giving them a 1-0 lead at the break.

UCD then pushed on in the second half and dominated for long periods. Orlagh Nolan got their second midway through the half before Aine O’Gorman bagged her 10th goal of the season to leave the final score 3-0.

The game also marked the last in the three-season term of manager Don O’Riordan, and as a result the club will be advertising for the manager’s position for the 2017 season, which starts in March 2017.
