Exciting news for MADRA as new shop to open in Furbo

A new MADRA charity shop is about to open in Furbo. The doors will open at 11am next Saturday December 3 with a special designer day taking place on Sunday.

This amazing new space will not just act as a charity shop, it will also be the new headquarters for all kinds of fundraising and educational events, which are essential for keeping on top of the many costs associated with running a busy dog rescue.

MADRA shop manager Geraldine Kennedy Hunt said that MADRA are very excited about this new venture.

“I hope you will all drop in and say hello and continue to offer us the fantastic support that has made the Moycullen and Westside shops such a great success. MADRA’s charity shops are the backbone of the finances that allow us to continue to rescue dogs and we can’t thank you all enough for all of your support.”

“Due to the already massive success of the other two MADRA shops that see an average of more than 1,000 people passing through their doors each week, as well as any number of furry four legged visitors, we felt it was time to expand and this great new space will be able to house and display the massive amounts of stock coming into us that we currently don’t have the capacity to keep at the other shops.”

All three shops are open from Wednesday to Saturday from 11am-5pm and rely upon the network of kind local volunteers and CE staff who play a vital role in keeping them up and running. If anyone is interested in volunteering in the new or existing shops your time would be greatly appreciated.

“This doesn’t necessarily involve working on the till if that is not your thing, we always need people to help sort donations, iron clothes, do a few small repairs and so on as well. We’d also really love some more people who can collect and transport donations around the county too. If you would like to offer your time or would like more information please email [email protected],” she added.

MADRA is a Connemara-based dog rescue and re-homing facility whose ultimate and overall aim is to ensure that all dogs have permanent, loving homes.

MADRA works to educate members of the general public to have a responsible attitude towards dogs and their welfare and to help create a world where no healthy, good-natured dogs are killed merely because they are considered to be a surplus number.
