Village and town renewal scheme a huge boost for Gort says councillor

Councillor Joe Byrne says the grant of €50,000 to Gort town is a most welcome boost.

The application for funding was prepared by councillor Byrne in conjunction with the Burren Lowlands Group and it will see the works carried out on landscaping to the roundabout at Glenbrack, footpath planter pots and seating in the Square area, town heritage trail signage and marketing, playground enhancement on Ennis Road, extension of community orchard scheme to 14 estates in the town, additional planting on Crowe Street and Church Street, and improved footpath accessibility for people with physical disabilities.

Byrne said, “This is another boost for the town and in particular the local businesses as this sort of initiative will make Gort a more attractive place to visit. The funding will also assist the local tourist office be maintained.”
