The Connemara Ambulance Steering Group will hold a meeting in the Station House Hotel, Clifton on Thursday November 24 at 8pm.
This meeting is for all those who have had a negative experience with the ambulance service - such as a very long wait for an ambulance to arrive for a patient.
A spokesperson for the organisers said that there have been many cases of a wait of several hours Call Out time to Time of Arrival to patients in the Connemara area.
“The Connemara Ambulance Steering Group who are fighting hard to get you an adequate service in North West Connemara - are holding this meeting to give you a voice and to compile a file of cases to present to the Minister for Health, Simon Harris when they meet with him in December.
“If you or a close family member experienced a serious delay whilst waiting for an ambulance in the past couple of years we ask you to attend. We will not ask anyone attending to speak if they do not wish to. We will ask you to consider writing a letter recording your experience if you so wish.
In order to respect Confidentiality of Patients organisers ask that only those who have been directly affected attend. The meeting is not open to the general public nor is it open to the media or politicians. Those attending are, however, welcome to bring a friend for support should they feel the need.

The Steering Group would like to state they acknowledge the excellent crews who operate ambulances but there are simply not enough vehicles to cope with the vast Connemara area to bring patients to Galway and Castlebar Hospitals. The Meeting with Minister Harris is scheduled for Monday, December 19 in University College Hospital Galway.
