HE WAS Eoin McLove in Father Ted, Dougal Maguire's nemesis, and a character who became an instant classic with such lines as, "Go away! I don't want to catch the menopause!" and "I’ve no willy’".
The comedian and actor behind McLove is Louth native Patrick McDonnell, who plays the Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh tomorrow at 9pm. Since Father Ted, McDonnell has appeared on Moone Boy, Stew, Naked Camera, and The Savage Eye. McDonnell’s deliberately vacant stare and guileless manner often have audiences laughing before he even opens his mouth.
Support is from David Reilly, known for the wildly popular YouTube channel Facts, and his hit Edinburgh show, dysmorphin time. Rich Hall called him “the future of Irish comedy.” Also on the bill is Ashlee Bentley, winner of the 2016 Show Me The Funny competition.
The MC is Irish Comedian of the Year 2016 Steve Bennett. Tickets are €8 from the Róisín Dubh and OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street, and www.roisindubh.net, or €10 on the door.
