Galway Baroque Singers' new concert series

THE GALWAY Baroque Singers will join forces with the Dun Laoghaire Choral Society, under conductor David Brophy, for Choral Fusion, a new project where both groups will tour and perform together for what they promise will be a "challenging double choir repertoire".

The first Choral Fusion concert will take place in Dublin on November 12 followed by a concert in Galway Cathedral on Saturday November 19 at 8pm. Both will see performances of Handel's Solomon, recognised as one of the composer's masterpieces, it features magnificent choruses, rapturous music, gripping emotion, and stunning imagery, and a vividly portrayed dramatic scene of Solomon's famous judgment over a disputed infant.

In 2017 there will be three Choral Fusion concerts, starting in March, with works by Lully and Charpentier; a Vivaldi concert in June; and a concert of Bach and Haydn in November. The final concert is in March 2018 of Handel's Israel in Egypt.
