Sail to Byzantium in Bastard Amber

Acclaimed new production from Liz Roche Company to make Galway debut

INSPIRED BY the poet WB Yeats and the artist Patrick Scott, Bastard Amber, a dance production by the acclaimed Liz Roche Company, makes its Galway debut at the Town Hall Theatre next week.

Bastard Amber, described as "a stunning and beautiful production...Not to be missed," by the Irish Examiner, will be performed on Tuesday November 15 at 8pm. Choreographed and conceived by Liz Roche, this is a multi-disciplinary production, incorporating imagery, live music, and design with dance.

A journey into humankind’s spiritual quest, Bastard Amber conjures up a lustrous Byzantine world, drawing inspiration from the imagery of Yeats' 'Sailing to Byzantium'. Work by other artists is strongly referenced, notably Patrick Scott's iconic gold meditation paintings reflected in the set and light design. The performers are Helene Cathala, Sarah Cerneaux, Alexandre Iselo, Kevin Coquelard, Henry Montes, Liv O'Donoghue, Katherine O'Malley, Liz Roche, and Marc Stevenson. Lighting design is by Lee Curran; music is by Ray Harman; costumes are by Catherine Fay.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
