Luck Just Kissed You Hello returns

2015 Galway International Arts Festival hit returns as part of a new national tour

LUCK JUST Kissed You Hello, Amy Conroy's powerful exploration of gender and sexual identity, and a hit at the 2015 Galway International Arts Festival, returns to Galway as part of a new national tour.

Galway International Arts Festival and HotForTheatre have announced a co-production of Luck Just Kissed You Hello is to tour nationally in November. Starring Amy Conroy, Mark Fitzgerald, and Will O'Connell, and directed by Caitriona McLaughlin, the play opens in Town Hall Theatre on Tuesday November 1 at 8pm, before going on to Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Belfast, Donegal, and Limerick.

Laura (played by Conroy ) returns home for the death of her father, but Laura is now Mark. He, along with Gary and Sullivan, must decide on how he is remembered, and they all must find a way to forgive and recognise themselves again. The Guardian described it as “a blistering exploration of masculinity”, while the Irish Independent praised the play for being “provocative, funny and intensely moving.”

Conroy said: “I wrote this show for big cities, for small towns, for farmers, for ballroom dancers, for teachers, for artists… for you. The audience has always been at the heart of my work and now this love affair continues across all four provinces.”

“Amy Conroy is one of most original younger Irish playwrights working today, writing in a style that demonstrates great intelligence, humour and detail," said GIAF artistic director, Paul Fahy. "We were delighted to work with Amy and her company, HotForTheatre on the world premiere production of this show last year, and are thrilled the production will be seen by a wider audience as it goes on tour.”

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
