THE FIRST semi-final of the Irish Comedian of the Year Competition takes place tomorrow [Friday September 30] at the Roisin Dubh Comedy Clubh, featuring the cream of the country's emerging new comedy talent.
The semi-final will see 10 heat winners perform a seven-minute set with one being chosen by the judges, and one by audience acclaim, to go forward to the grand final. Semi-finalists include Steve Bennett, Áine Gallagher, Bob Hennigan, Aindrias DeStaic, Johnny Graham, and Cormac McGuinness. If you know any of them (or even if you do not ) go and support them.
The eventual winner of the overall competition will win €2,000, as well as a trip to Australia with nine weeks of paying gigs worth about €1,000 a week. The final takes place during the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday October 27.
