Two chances to see classsical pianist Michael McHale

Belfast man to play Galway Jazz Festival pre-fest show and Clifden Arts Festival

MICHAEL MCHALE, the Irish classical pianist, who playing has been described as "delicately graded and infallibly clear" by The Irish Times and filled with "lucidity and elegance" by The Daily Telegraph, will play two shows in County Galway.

The Belfast-born musician will play Loam restaurant, The Fairgreen, this Sunday at 8pm. It will be a pre-festival gig for the Galway Jazz Festival which runs from October 6 to 9. McHale will also give a lunchtime recital on Monday September 19, in the Church of Ireland, Clifden, as part of the Clifden Arts Festival.

The Galway city concert will see McHale perform Ronan Guilfoyle's 'Bystanders', a piece for solo piano commissioned as part of the 'Composing The Island' series. It is dedicated to the civilian casualties of the 1916 Rising. The Clifden concert will feature works by Schubert and Chopin.
