Lisa Hannigan to begin Irish tour in Galway

Singer-songwriter to play Seapoint in December

LISA HANNIGAN, riding high on the critical and commercial success of her No1 At Swim album, has announced details of her new Irish tour, with the opening concert taking place in Galway.

At Swim, her third album, produced by The National's Aaron Dessner, has been described by Hot Press as "easily Lisa’s greatest work to date”. It was Album of the Week in both The Irish Times and The Sunday Times, and enjoyed rave reviews from Consequence of Sound and The Last Mixed Tape, and four stars from MOJO, The Observer, The Daily Telegraph, and The Independent.

After playing in support of 2011's No 1 album Passenger for nearly two years, Lisa struggled at first to write new material. A new relationship meant that she was dividing her time between Dublin and London, she voiced the mermaid in the Oscar-nominated animation Song Of The Sea; soundtrack work on Fargo and Gravity; and co-hosting the acclaimed Soundings podcast.

The breakthrough came when Hannigan got an email out of the blue from Aaron Dessner. Taking up his suggestion they work together, Lisa rediscovered the collaborative spirit she had missed in Dublin, creating an album about homesickness, isolation, and love.

Lisa Hannigan plays Seapoint Ballroom, Salthill on Thursday December 1. Tickets for all dates go on sale at 9am on Thursday September 15. See also www.lisahannigan.ie
