Galway WFC confident facing cup holders

Galway Women's FC travel to Ferrycarriag Park on Sunday to take on holders Wexford Youths Women in FAI Continental Tyres Cup quarter-final ( 2pm ).

Undefeated in the league this season, Galway will travel to the South East full of confidence. However manager Don O’Riordan must plan without Rachel Baynes and Irish International Sadhbh Doyle, both of whom are ineligible to play in the FAI Cup being underage per competition rules.

Galway will be looking to take to continue their current league form, says Galway captain Méabh De Búrca.

“We’ve had a good start to the season and we will be looking to bring our league form with us into the cup," she says. " We are under no illusions though and we know we will have to put on a great performance to beat the cup holders.

"In our final game of last season we held Wexford at home and we will be looking to go one better.”

This year's there is an added incentive for the teams with the final being played live on TV in the Aviva Stadium.
