An evening with The A Capella Knights

Local Galway group 'The A Capella Knights' will present a special concert in Galway to help the Simon Community.

The concert will take place at An Taibhdhearc Theatre on Saturday September 10 with a portion of ticket sales, as well as raffle proceeds, going to Galway Simon Community, which provides housing and support services to homeless people in Galway.

The concert will be performed a capella and will feature varied genres of songs that reflect the group’s musical influences.

The A Capella Knights were formed in late 2013 by members Francis Casey, Mike Davenport, Keith Davies, Brian Hickey and Gary McDonald. From a background of choral singing experience, they wanted to create a male voice group reflecting their musical experiences. In the past three years, they have worked steadily, becoming better known, and building a repertoire that encompasses sacred music and rock songs, via gospel, soul and all points in between.

Speaking about the upcoming concert, Gary McDonald says after performing in various locations around Galway, including The Cathedral and St Nicholas’ Church, they are delighted to be singing in An Taibhdhearc Theatre for the first time.

"The theatre provides an intimate environment for the audience to enjoy our varied repertoire, ” he says.

Special guest is Sinead Davies who will join them for the concert. Davies, who has performed in a wide variety of plays and musicals in London and across the UK, recently appeared as Mrs Medlock in The Secret Garden at London's Ambassadors Theatre.

Tickets cost €15 plus booking fee and are now on sale from An Taibhdhearc Theatre, Middle Street, Galway, and on their website http://antaibhdhearc.com/.
