Cannabis found in Revenue and Garda search

Investigations by both the Revenue and the Garda were under way in the city this week following the discovery of cannabis worth an estimated €5,000.

A house in the Wellpark area was searched on Friday last in a joint operation involving Revenue’s Customs Service, the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, and the Galway Drugs Unit. The search uncovered 250g of cannabis herb.

Two men in their twenties were arrested as a result of the search, and were questioned at Galway Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Both men were subsequently released without charge and a file on the incident is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
