Math-rockers Battles to play Róisín Dubh

New York trio to play Galway for first time in almost a decade

INDIE ROCK, post-rock, math-rock, experimental rock...whatever you call it, Battles play it, and few do it as well as this New York trio who play the Róisín Dubh on Monday August 15.

Battles - Ian Williams, John Stanier, and Dave Konopka - return to Galway almost eight years to the day since their last appearance at the Dominck Street venue, a show still talked about in reverential, awestruck, terms.

The band, acclaimed for their mix of artistry, experimentation, technology, and singular focus, have released three albums - Mirrored (2007 ), Gloss Drop (2011 ), and La Di Da Di (2015 ) - and their intensely rhythmic music, the gauntlet through which melody and harmony must pass, have been described by Pitchfork as being "like a highly-saturated, highly-composed Takashi Murakami print, or a website that needed a lot of programming to make it look as minimal and usable as possible".

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
