Galway groups and individuals in the tourism sector are being urged to apply for the new Fáilte Ireland Grants Scheme for Large Tourism Projects which is providing a €65 million pool of funds for the industry to draw from.
The grant is aimed at developing new, or to boost existing, tourism experiences and attractions across Ireland. It has been designed to support large tourism projects with significant economic potential and the ability to boost overseas visitor growth, create jobs, and promote Fáilte Ireland’s existing destination brands, including Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East. There is no deadline for applications.
Independent Galway East TD and Minister of State for OPW and Flood Relief, Seán Canney is "urging all stakeholders" to apply for funding.
"Tourism plays a major role in the economic development of the west," he said. "The tourism industry employs an estimated 205,000 people and generates an estimated €5.7 billion in revenue a year."
Minister Canney said those with proposals for projects can receive an application form through Fáilte Ireland via [email protected] and should include a brief description of the proposal, applicant location, and applicant contact details. Once this information is received, a Fáilte Ireland representative will be in contact with the applicant and send an application form.
