'Making Waves' in Rinville

Galway’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture 2020 is entitled ‘Making Waves’, and describes how a second wave of artists are strengthening the cultural fabric of Galway, and with less than 10 days until the official announcement, big waves are expected.

The concept for the programme is based around the themes of migration, language, and landscape, encouraging huge levels of citizen engagement with artists, and the development of a creative movement across Galway’s community.

This weekend, on July 10, 'Cros-sing' will take place in Rinville Park, Oranmore, and promises to be an enchanting look at Galway's maritime culture and heritage.

Award winning choirs, such as The Marine Institute Singers and Cois Cladaigh, will be joined by the Czech Republic's Stage Code, in a bid to create a captivating musical celebration.

Stage Code have worked on numerous projects throughout Europe creating singing projects, where the public is introduced to the history and stories of an area through song, and this event promises to be a captivating musical celebration of Galway’s people, passion, rich culture, and history.

The choirs will be joined by Oranmore's Scoil Mhuire Youth Choir, the free event will take place at 1pm, and everyone is welcome to attend.
