Etape Connemara challenges cyclists for Croi

Heart and stroke charity Croi expects this year's cycling fundraiser, the Etape Connemara, to be bigger than ever with some 500 riders predicted to take part.

The Etape Connemara, now in its fourth year, has become a popular event on the cycling calendar with both national and international riders attracted to the race through the rugged landscape of Connemara.

Cyclists can choose from a 100km or a 150km course and it is open to both club and leisure riders.

This year's chip-timed sportive will take place on Sunday August 21, and is in aid of Croi. Edwina Treacy has been appointed fundraising events manager with Croi, and Brian Clancy is the new race director for the 2016 event.

Participants compete against the clock to complete the challenging 100km and 150km routes through Connemara, where the finishing time becomes the target to beat the following year, and individuals challenge themselves against some of the best club cyclists in the country.

Any individual or club wishing to take up the challenge and help support Croí can contact Edwina Treacy, Tel: 091 542404 or Email: [email protected]. The entry fee is €45 early bird until July 31. For more information about the event, visit: www.etapeconnemara.ie
