Budding Galway hurlers set new challenges

Young hurlers from Galway will have a chance to show off their skills on Saturday when Centra hosts a community hurling event in Kenny Park with hurling stars Cathal Mannion and Jason Flynn.

The Galway duo of Cathal Mannion and Jason Flynn will be putting participants to the test with the #LiveWell Target Challenge at the event, as clubs aim to secure a place at the ultimate day out in Croke Park later this year. On Saturday one Galway GAA club will win a special trip to Croke Park, and receive a hurling skills session from the best hurlers in the country. As well as this, they will receive an all-access pass to behind the scenes areas of Croke Park, a stadium tour and museum tour.

Centra, which recently announced the extension of its sponsorship of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship to 2019, is encouraging fans to get active this summer with 12 community hurling events taking place throughout the country. There will be family entertainment on the day, including face-painting and a hurling simulator. The event commences at 10am and the hurling skills session is open to boys and girls of all standards from age five to 12.

In addition Centra is running three hurling challenges, the Sideline Cut, Hurling Tricks, and the Bin Challenge with special prizes on offer.

To sign up for the community hurling event and to step up to the #LiveWell challenge participants can register in Centra stores throughout Galway.
