Garcia set to sign for United

Galway United manager Tommy Dunne says there will be "some movement" at the club during the SSE Airtricity League transfer window in July.

Dunne has confirmed midfielder Eric Foley will be released by the club, while Jose Garcia, who has impressed for Salthill Devon, is expected to sign soon.

“There should be some movement during the window,” Dunne admits. “Eric Foley is going, we will be releasing him. He has decided to go back to Dublin to look at options there.

“He came here looking to get going, but he found it difficult not being around in Galway full time. That didn’t help him, but we wish him well and thank him for his efforts with us.”

Dunne is hopeful central midfielder Garcia, who featured in some pre-season fixtures for United, will be eligible to play competitively for the club in July.

“We hope to get the Jose Garcia situation sorted out. We are just waiting on word to say that he can play. We feel he can make an impact for us.”

Dunne also expects other additions to his squad. “Yes I think that there will be some movement. I will have to sit down with the board to see exactly what we can do, but at this stage I expect something will happen.”

Following 10 days break United returned to training on Monday.

“We were back training on Monday. Everything is going well training wise, we hope to have an in-house game on Thursday, which will be a help for us as we prepare to play Bohemians at Dalymount Park on June 24.”
