THEY HAVE been called "the lucid dream between post rock and indie” by The Vinyl District, and their music has been described as combining "post-punk and folk in a spine-tingling brew that’ll take potshots at your emotional wellbeing” by The Line of Best Fit.
This is HAWK, the London based band led by Galway born vocalist and songwriter Julie Hough. The quartet will play the upcoming Citóg night at the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday June 15 at 9pm.
The band formed in 2012 when Julie began collaborating with Matt Harris. After a year on the acoustic scene, the pair gained support from BBC6Music and XFM. They teamed with Sam and Chris in 2013, adding a new abrasive edge to their sound, while retaining the detail and delicacy of their acoustic roots.
HAWK released the Clock Hands EP in late 2014, followed by 'Glass’, a hypnotic post-rock track released in support of Marriage Equality. The track gained support from BBC 6 Music's Lauren Laverne, and since then the band have released a self-titled EP, and earned further critical acclaim, including from punk singer-songwriter and broadcaster Tom Robinson, and Nialler9, who has praised their “fine display of guitar rock” at their live shows.
