Accountancy firm announces jobs for Galway city

Twenty-five new jobs have been allocated to Galway city, as Ernst and Young expands its business portfolio and opens offices on Eyre Square.

The accounting and consultancy firm, now trading as EY, has outperformed its competitors over the last three years and has reported 16 per cent growth per annum.

“EY has had a presence in the west of Ireland for almost 70 years, so we are delighted to further cement our commitment to creating employment in the region by announcing the opening of our new Galway office,” said Mike McKerr, country managing partner, EY Ireland.Overall, the company has announced 270 jobs, of which 220 will be for experienced professionals, and the remaining 50 will provide a working experience for graduates.

Of this, 20 places will become available for NUI Galway graduates who will take up positions in offices around the country.”EY’s announcement today is wonderful news. It is a true mark of confidence in the Irish economy, when an international business can be competitive and grow to the degree EY have in this country,” said Mary Mitchell O’Connor, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Waterford are also expected to benefit from the news.
