IT HAS been a phenomenal year for Leicester. The city's football team has won the English Premiership, snooker player Mark Selby won World Snooker Champion last month, while the star of fellow son of the city, musician Leo Stannard, continues to rise.
Stannard plays The Loft at Seven, Bridge Street, on Friday July 8 as part of his upcoming British and Irish tour. The Englishman is best known for his rhythmic, anthemic, single 'Lost' from his Free Rein EP.
“Lost came about after I confronted one of my closest friends about their lack of direction in life," says Leo. "It was a time when we’re all making decisions about university, work and what to do next - and this friend of mine had so much to offer but was far too easily influenced by others which was heartbreaking to see.”
Stannard's music has been played on Radio X and on Lauren Laverne's show on BBC 6music. He has also supported Rudimental, and has gathered more than 700,000 monthly Spotify listeners.
