LEADING GALWAY musicians and performers will take to the stage for Superheroes, a special charity event to raise funds and awareness about CGD diseases.
CDG stands for Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation. This is a group of rare and unknown diseases with complex symptoms and diagnosis. There is as yet, no cure for CDG which can cause serious malfunction of several different organ systems, especially the nervous system, muscles, and intestines, in affected infants.
The line-up is The Black Magic Big Band, The Freeway Jam, The Big Jelly, La Orquesta Kalamares, Queen Elvis, The Little Things, John Connelly Inc, 4 Men and a Bass, burlesque performer Harley Sparks, and Berta Bellydancing, with DJs Will Softly and King. The MC will be Steven Sharpe.
According to organiser Barbara Vulso, whose own son Leo, has CGD, said: "Supporting this night means supporting a research project aimed to find answers towards a possible cure for CDG, creating awareness about CDG, therefore more exposure and more chances to make our voices heard."
