Galway Camogie had a very disappointing series of results last weekend, going down in all three finals, at senior, intermediate and minor level.
The seniors lost the Division 1 league final to Kilkenny by two goals, 2-7 to 0-7 in Semple stadium.
Galway never really got to the pitch of the game and both team captain Niamh Kilkenny and manager Ollie Bergin spoke after the game about the need to learn from the defeat and the importance of improving before the championship kick-off against Tipperary in seven weeks’ time.
Galway failed to ignite at all in the first half and the fact that only Niamh McGrath (0-6 ) and Aoife Donoghue (0-1 ) got on the score sheet highlights the problems they encountered against a highly motivated and well organised Kilkenny outfit who will take some beating in the championship too.
In the Intermediate league final, Galway went down to Meath on a score-line of 1-10 to 2-3 in Birr after a hard fought encounter and Galway also tasted defeat in the All-Ireland minor final A replay going down by 4-09 to 2-06 to Tipperary.
