Mississippi choir charity concert

US choir to perform fundraising show for JIGSAW

TWENTY SINGERS from Mississippi's Millsaps College Chamber choir come to Galway next week, to perform a fundraising concert for the youth mental health charity Jigsaw.

The concert takes place on Tuesday May 10 in St Nicholas Collegiate Church. The programme will feature work by European and American composers, as well as spirituals and folk songs. The singers are aged from 18 to 21.

Admission to the concert is free but there is a suggested donation of €5 to Jigsaw, the charity which supports young people aged between 15 and 21 in Galway city and county, who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

"We are delighted to be supporting Jigsaw with our concert," said Dr Timothy Choker, the choir’s director "Many young people are under huge pressure these days. Singing is a great way to relieve stress. It can enrich your life and help take your worries away."
