Freddie White @ Monroe's Live

Legendary singer-songwriter returns to Galway in June

THE GREAT Freddie White makes a welcome return to Galway to play Monroe’s Live on Thursday June 9 at 8pm, and as Siobhan Long in The Irish Times said: "there’s still nobody to match White at his best".

The Corkonian first came to attention with his 1979 debut album Live on Tour. His second album Do You Do was the biggest selling Mulligan Label album of 1981. He is renowned for his deep expressive voice which he lends perfectly to his cache of love songs, while his guitar skills have led him to be called "the maestro". He is equally acclaimed for his interpretations of songs by Randy Newman, Tom Waits, John Hiatt, and Guy Clark.

Freddie is now based in Sydney. His most recent album was 2014's Better Days, a collection of 10 original songs, all but one written by Freddie and his wife Trish.

Tickets are €20/18. See www.monroes.ie
