Scottish trad-fusion as Skerryvore play Monroe's

SKERRYVORE, THE multi award winning Celtic rock-band, from the tiny lsle of Tiree off Scotland’s west coast, make their Irish debut in Galway, playing Monroe’s Live this Saturday at 9pm.

The band - Tiree-born brothers Daniel (accordion ) and Martin Gillespie (bagpipes/whistles/accordion ); Fraser West (drums/vocals ); Alec Dalglish (lead vocals/guitar ) - fuse traditional music with rock, pop, jazz, and country. Simple Minds' Mick MacNeil has called them, " the most promising young band in Scotland today".

Their debut album, West Coast Life, was released in 2005. Their third, Skerryvore, won the SNMA Record of the Year 2011, while the band took STMA Live Act of the Year 2011. In 2015, to mark their 10th anniversary, they released Decade, which contains live and previously unreleased tracks, including ‘Happy to be Home,’ featuring Sharon Shannon.
