THE LOCUST Honey String Band, the North Carolina-formed, Nashville-based old-time/bluegrass trio, who embody "American roots music at its best” according to The Irish Post, are coming to Galway.
The band - Chloe Edmonstone (fiddle/guitar/vocals ), Meredith Watson (guitars/vocals ), and John Miller (bass/vocals ) - play upstairs in the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday March 23 at 9pm.
The trio are promoting their latest album, Never Let Me Cross Your Mind. Songlines called it “rip-roaring old-time music, with a few country surprises"; Country Music People declared it "a feast of excellent picking, great vocal harmonies and unbridled fun”; For The Country Record called it "real, authentic roots music"; while PopMatters described it as “warm, emotional and, at moments, heartbreaking".
The trio's songs are a mix of Southern musical traditions, from old-time string band fiddle-banjo tunes to vintage country duets, old Carter Family songs, dancehall honky-tonk numbers, and mountain blues. While they know the roots of the music inside and out, they are not afraid to push back at the tradition, to find new directions.
Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
