TRAD MUSICIANS Kelly and Colm Gannon, Pádraic Dubhghaill, and Cliodhna Flannery, headline the next Show Up and Show Off gig for teenagers at the Fóroige Youth Cafe, The Fairgreen, this Saturday.
Button accordionist Colm is from Boston while concertina player Kelly is from Ballindine. They have played and taught across Ireland and the US, as well as at numerous Irish festivals. They live in An Spidéal where they run a music shop and school . They also founded Seachtain Ceoil Chois Fharraige, which takes place each August.
Indreabháin's Pádraig Dubhghaill is a guitarist who achieved a first class honours in the MA in Irish Music Performance at the University of Limerick, and he has been taught by leading guitarists Steve Cooney, John Blake, Jim Murray, Tim Edey, and John Doyle. There will be a one hour open mic session, starting at 7pm, where young people are welcome to perform in the art form or musical genre of their choosing. This will be followed by the main gig. The event is organised by the Galway Youth Arts Alliance.
