Friday in the Róisín Dubh - the funniest night of the week

Dominick Street venue to host shows by Deirdre O'Kane, Barry Murphy, and Karl Spain

DEIRDRE O'KANE, Ross Browne from RTE’s The Fear, and Apres Match’s Barry Murphy are just some of the comedians coming to the Roisin Dubh on Fridays, officially making it Galway's funniest day of the week.

Ross Browne plays on March 11; while on March 18 it will be Republic OF Telly host Kevin McGahern. April sees visits from Karl Spain, Barry Murphy, Fred Cooke, and Damian Clarke, but the highlight will be Deirdre O’Kane on April 29.

After a seven-year break from stand-up, during which she had children, made a movie in Vietnam, and starred in Moone Boy, Deirdre has returned to stand-up comedy with a vengeance. In her new show, 1Dee, she explores what has she learned from being a stay at home mum and from reaching middle-age.

The Róisín Dubh will present comedy shows in other venues. David O’Doherty performs We Are All in the Gutter, But Some of Us Are Looking at David O’Doherty in the Town Hall Theatre on Friday May 13. Reginald D Hunter brings The Aluminum Negro to Seapoint Ballroom, Salthill, on Thursday June 2 with support from Glenn Wool.

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
