NWA WERE Straight Outta Compton, but Galway's own Connemara bad boy raconteur, Páraic Breathnach, is comin' Straight Outta Connamara, in his new stand-up comedy show at the Róisín Dubh.
Páraic's entry into stand-up comedy has been a most welcome occurrence, revealing a man with a natural talent for the form. It should come as no surprise given his stint in Pat Shortt's Kilnaskully, and being one of the city's major presences in the arts.
Straight Outta Connamara, which Páraic performs in the Róisín's upstairs bar on Monday February 8 and Wednesday 10 at 9pm, will see him tell the story of his life, from the wind swept shores of south Connemara to Henry Street, surviving the education system, and working in agriculture, fisheries, catering, theatre, film, radio, and TV, along the way. There will also be stories of lost ice cream, sex, drugs, agus braon le n-Ól. Expect seanfhocla, a cosán dearg of detours, diversions, and devilment as well.
Special guest for both shows will be Rocking Ronnie (AKA Rod Goodall ). Rocking Ronnie was the hit act of the Footbarn Cabaret that rocked the capitals of Europe and the people of Galway back in the day. The show contains Irish language throughout.
