See Oscar winning film Tangerines

TANGERINES, a film set during the brutal 1992 Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, will be screened by the Galway Film Society in the Town Hall Theatre this Sunday at 8pm.

Director Zaza Urushadze’s anti-war story roots itself in the neutral viewpoint of elderly Estonian farmer Ivo (Lembit Ulfsak ). After a shootout between Georgian soldiers and Checen mercenaries near the local tangerine orchard, Ivo nurses two wounded men from opposite sides in his small house, setting the stage for a brilliant examination of conflict and humanity. The film won the 2015 Oscar and Golden Globe USA awards for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
