The first Supermac's opened its doors in 1978 on Main Street, Ballinasloe. Since that first opening Supermac's has grown steadily, its restaurants becoming a firm fixture in towns and cities across Ireland. Supermac's sponsors arts, culture, and sport within the communities it operates in, including its association with Galway hurling which is the longest running inter-county GAA sponsorship in the country, well over 20 years. In 2013 a new deal was signed seeing both hurling and football in Galway sponsored by one organisation for the first time. The new deal includes sponsorship of Galway football and hurling across all age groups from underage through to minor, u21 and senior.

Today Supermac’s is Ireland's largest indigenous convenience food restaurant group with a policy of continued expansion and growth. The recently launched SuperSubs brand provides further healthy options in some of the larger food outlets throughout Ireland for customers looking for something a little bit different from the traditional Supermac's menu. SuperSubs offers a great choice of subs, wraps, and soups that are healthy, substantial, and reasonably priced. All of the products are prepared daily using fresh and nutritious ingredients ensuring they deliver the best experience possible to their customers.

There are traditional subs like tuna salad with light mayonnaise, roasted sweet peppers, and chives, or the old reliable ham and cheese or BLT. The soup and sub offer is particularly good value at €4.95, with a welcome hot pot to wrap cold fingers around at this time of year, good for your waistline and your pocket after the excesses of the festive season. The latest offering in the range is a tasty Caesar chicken wrap — chargrilled chicken, oak smoked bacon and plentiful parmesan shavings, garnished with fresh rocket leaves in a wholesome seeded wrap. The authentic Caesar dressing is made by a local company and supplied fresh each day in small batches to ensure consistency and quality. It’s a great new product — clean and fresh and really well presented.

While other sandwich providers prepare their products in centralised industrial kitchens in Dublin and deliver them by van to various shops and petrol stations, the SuperSub sandwich is assembled in front of you with pre-weighed fresh ingredients. All meats, cheese, and vegetables are freshly prepared daily. SuperSubs makes eating healthy and fresh food easy, while also catering for customers who may be coeliac or gluten intolerant. Sandwiches are made to your liking, with calories for each item clearly printed on the leaflets.
