THOSE LOOKING to take up acting in 2016 and those seeking to improve their skills may want to check out the spring series of classes from the Galway Actors Workshop, in the Anno Santo Hotel, Salthill, starting this month.
Introduction to Acting (Mondays and Tuesdays, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, starting January 25 and 26 ) is for beginners or those who have not acted in a while. The basics are covered through games, exercises, and improvisations, with the focus on developing confidence and learning how to create characters and settings.
Scene Study (Thursdays, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, starting January 28 ) is for those with some acting experience who would like to perform in public. The course replicates the traditional rehearsal experience and covers theatrical style, blocking, dialogue, characterisation, movement, line learning, costume choice, props, and working with text. This term culminates in a public showcase performance at an established Galway theatre venue.
The Advanced Performance Project (Wednesdays, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, starting January 27 ) is for experienced students who want to get involved in performing a studio-style production of a Shakespeare play at the end of term.
All classes run for 12 weeks. To book call Sarah on 087 - 2373531 or email [email protected]. Those interested in the Advanced Performance Project should send an email outlining their experience by January 21.
