Audi puts the ‘S’ in new plus version of SQ5 TDI

Audi is further expanding its range of S models with its most powerful Q5 version.

In February 2016, the new SQ5 TDI plus will arrive at Irish dealerships with more power and driving pleasure and even more extensive equipment. It will deliver 340hp, has a sport differentia, and 20-inch wheels.

Audi’s SQ5 TDI provides the practicality of a SUV with the performance of a sports car. Following in the steps of its highly successful sibling, the plus version has an even higher power output.

The bi-turbo V6 TDI produces 340bhp from its three litres of displacement by way of increased injection pressure. This results in 14bhp more power compared to the SQ5 TDI. Its peak torque is increased by 50 to 700Nm.

The powerful diesel SUV accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.1 seconds; the top speed is electronically governed to 250km/h. In the NECD cycle, it merely requires 6.6 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres with emission of 174g CO2/km.

Like all S models from Audi, the SQ5 TDI plus delivers its power to the road via the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.

For the first time in the Q5 family, a sport differential at the rear axle actively distributes the drive power to the wheels for better grip. The active sport differential works by distributing torque from the engine in continuously variable proportions between the rear wheels, always sending more power in a controlled manner to the outside rear wheel.

This greatly enhances agility, driving pleasure and active driving safety. The SUV comes with gloss black 20-inch cast aluminium wheels in 10 Y spoke design from Audi Sport with size 255/45 R20 tyres.

Audi has extended the standard black gloss package to include the exterior mirror housing, the door handles, the roof edge spoiler and the diffuser. A further visual customisation feature on the exterior are two clasps that join the four exhaust tailpipes in pairs.

Inside, the folding rear seat bench increases variability and enlarges the luggage compartment, if necessary. The armrests in the door trims are upholstered in leather. The fine Nappa leather seat covers feature a diamond pattern in silver.

The Audi SQ5 TDI plus retails for €85,250 on-the-road in Ireland and is available to order now.
