Duke Special to play Róisín Dubh

DUKE SPECIAL is an artist who is forever restless, forever on the move. "I don't want to be sounding like I sounded 10 years ago," he has said. "I want to keep adding to what I've learned, keep developing."

That continuous embrace of creative exploration and curiosity has seen the Belfast singer-songwriter record a number of acclaimed albums, including the much loved Songs From The Deep Forest and last year's Look Out Machines!

He has also composed music for galleries, film, and theatre. He was commissioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to write a series of original songs based on photographs for its exhibition of photographers Stieglitz, Steichen, and Strand. He appeared in Deborah Warner’s critically acclaimed 2009 production of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children at London’s National Theatre; and he has worked with the Ulster and RTÉ concert orchestras. He has also won acclaim for his concerts, London Lite saying "his live shows are simply astonishing”.

Duke Special plays the Róisín Dubh on Friday January 15 at 9pm. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
