POLISH BLACK metal band Thy Worshiper and Cork Gaelic metallers Corr Mhóna will storm the stage of The Cellar underground for the Hexmas Bash this Saturday at 8.30pm.
Formed in Wroclaw, western Poland in 1993, by Marcin Gasiorowski, Thy Worshiper's music draws not only on black metal but the traditional music, folklore, spirituality, and culture of eastern and central Europe - as a result the band sing all their song in Polish. Their debut album Popiol (Introibo ad Altare Dei ) was released in 1996 to critical acclaim, achieving a cult status in the Polish underground metal scene. The band subsequently went on hiatus, returning in 2005, and releasing the Signum a year later.
Gasiorowski left Poland and settled in Dublin where he revived the band, since when it has remained a going concern, through tours of Europe and the albums Carna Dzika Czerwien (2014 ) and MLP - Ozimina (2015 ).
Corr Mhóna's music fuses doom and death metal with lyrics as Gaeilge. Their debut EP, Corrguíneacht, was released in 2010, while their debut album, Dair, came out last year. They have played shows across Britain and Ireland and supported Mael Mórdha, The Wounded Kings, For Ruin, Sirocco, and Brigantia.
Support is from Zylum (Tipperary industrial/black metal ), and Galway bands Psychopigs (hardcore/metal ) and Ten Ton Slug (groove/sludge metal. Admission is €5. The show is organised by Hexan Haus.
