Driver visibility on the approach to the Salmon Wier Bridge from the Cathedral end should now be improved following the cutting back of trees at the bridge.
The trees had created a ‘blind corner’ for drivers approaching the bridge. Labour Cllr Billy Cameron considered this “a serious health and safety issue that put all road users’ lives at risk”.
He made representations on behalf of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians to the Galway City Council “pleading for improvements to be carried out”. The Galway City Central councillor said he is “happy at the speedy response” of the council to his request.
