THE GALWAY Arts Centre will hold art classes for children and teenagers, and Christmas craft-making workshops at the centre on Dominick Street.
Artist Victoria Smith will run art classes for under 12s (starting 10.30am ) and teenagers (afternoons ) on Saturdays, from November 21. The under-12s class will look at theme and technique, with a mini-project being completed by the end of class. The teenagers class will see themes self-directed by the participants. All materials are provided. Victoria holds a H Dip in Education and a masters in art in the contemporary world from NCAD.
Textile artist Maggie Smylie will run four Christmas crafting classes, starting Tuesday November 24, on how to make handmade Christmas cards; print Christmas wrapping paper, gift tags and gift bag in a lino block printing workshop; Christmas tree ornaments; and making a cinnamon-scented textile Christmas garland.
Classes are suitable for beginners, and those with some experience in the area. All materials are included but participants may bring their own designs and fabrics. Classes are €25 each or €80 in advance and limited to six people per class.
