Piaf - celebrating the little sparrow's centenary

EDITH PIAF was born 100 years ago this year in the Belleville neighbourhood of Paris, and although she died more than half a century ago, her songs and her remarkable voice will never perish.

To mark the centenary of the birth of La Môme Piaf (The Little Sparrow ), Scottish-Irish singer Christine Boville will bring her tribute show, Piaf, to the Town Hall Theatre on Tuesday November 17 at 8pm. The show has already enjoyed rave reviews at performances in Derry, Belfast, and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Piaf is both a personal narrative and a powerful musical homage to one of France’s most endearing icons. The Edinburgh Festival Magazine declared, "If you love music, and you want to experience something extraordinary, then run, fly, race to book your ticket immediately." Boville's voice has also been much praised, with The Belfast Telegraph calling it "remarkable, note-perfect, and deftly achieving the husky, trembling vibrato needed to carry these songs." The Sunday Times said the show "will stay with you for the rest of your life."

Tickets are available from the Town Hall Theatre on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
