United continue to build

Galway United have retained midfielder Jay O'Shea after his proposed move to Derby County was called off due to a deterioration in the financial situation at the English club.

United CEO Nick Leeson said he was disappointed for the player, but it was great for United that O’Shea would be back at Terryland Park for the new season.

The Irish U-21 International will rejoin his colleagues for pre-season training. "It is a disappointment that the transfer did not work out, but at this stage all I want to do is get back playing football. I had a great season with Galway United last year and all attention now turns to making a solid start to the new season and move on from there," said O'Shea.

United have also confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Barry Ryan from St Pat's. Manager Ian Foster said that the signing of the experienced Ryan was another significant move for the club.

"Barry is a top class keeper and he is an important signing as we continue to build the side for the new season."

The Galway United Supporters Trust holds its annual general meeting on Monday February 9 upstairs in Fibber Magees, Eyre Square (7pm ). All United supporters welcome to attend. GUST will have a season ticket stand in Elverys, Galway Retail Park, every Saturday from 12 noon to 4pm between now and the start of the season.
