Metal, alternative rock, Dimebag Darrell, and Josh Homme

Pantera and Queens Of The Stone Age tribute bands at Monroe's Live

TWO TRIBUTE bands, both celebrating outfits whose music is firmly located at the heavy end of the spectrum, albeit in different ways, come to Monroe's Live this month, for shows that will surely appeal to metal heads and alternative rockers alike.

101% PANTERA, the British based tribute band to the legendary, and much missed Texan metal band, play on Thursday October 22 at 9pm. Formed in 2007, 101% PANTERA, whose members are drawn from Ted Maul, Voodoo Six, The Defiled, and 616, have won praise for re-creating the brutal live energy of a Pantera show. They have also won the support of Dean Guitars, which built the guitars for the late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, with 101% PANTERA's Chris Jones, who takes on Dimebag's role in the band, an endorsee and product demonstrator for the manufacturer.

Songs For The Deaf, the Irish tribute band to Queens Of The Stone Age, play Monroe’s Live on Friday October 23 at 10pm. The Sligo based band are Stephen Caheny, Deco Laing, Eamon O'Neill, Charlie Long, and Alan Delaney. Caheny has played support to Damien Rice, Gary Lightbody and has toured the US with his own act Burning Shades. Lang’s rock covers band Aviator has supported Republic of Loose, and he has also played with Paul Melia at Electric Picnic. As Songs For The Deaf the band will play 'No One Knows', 'Feel Good Hit of the Summer', 'Little Sister, 'Mexicola', 'Someone's In The Wolf', and 'Tension Head'.
